Shiatsu massages offered by Lisa Julian Smith, a member of the Refugee Therapy Centre Management Committee

Shiatsu is a form of traditional Japanese body work which stimulates the body's natural healing abilities. It works by applying gentle pressure to points across the body and is deeply relaxing. Regular treatments can prevent the build up of stress and can help in a wide range of conditions from injury to more general symptoms of poor physical and mental health. The treatment usually takes place on a padded mat or futon at floor level, although it is possible to treat on a table or sitting in a chair. The client remains fully clothed.
