 Foundation and Qualifying Course in Intercultural Psychodynamic Approaches specialising in Working with Refugees

Foundation Year

The Refugee Therapy Centre runs an introductory course on counselling for people who would like to learn about working with refugees and asylum seekers in the community. This is a 1 year course, which offers an opportunity to use your own experiences to help others. We are looking for both refugees and asylum-seekers from diverse backgrounds as well as those who are working with refugees and asylum seekers to share their experiences and learn from each other.

Candidates who successfully complete this one year introductory course may be accepted onto the Diploma / MA qualifying course in Intercultural Psychodynamic Counselling / Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.

 

Postgraduate Diploma in Intercultural Psychodynamic Counselling /MA in Intercultural Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy 

This programme is one of the first of its kind in Europe: combining a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approach with intercultural perspectives.  It provides professional training in Intercultural Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, with a flexible specialism in working with refugees and asylum seekers, and other black and ethnic minority groups.

 

This training programme will provide you with an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge from clinicians, specialists and the writers/researchers in this growing field as well as to have an active role in the continuing evaluation and reformulation of psychoanalytic thinking.
